Water pumping workshop
The first part of the day is spent investigating the uses and benefits of solar water pumping, and students learnt how to install a solar slow pump, how to build the water catchment area, and then get some practical wiring experience on both the pump and the solar panels.
Discussions are held on its various uses, from still deep wells to fast flowing rivers. No head required.
The second half of the day is spent understanding and installing a hydraulic ram pump system. The action is hands-on and in the river, and before the end of the workshop, sure enough, water should be pumping out of the end of a hose and participants can take a shower ... after spending hours in the fresh clean river !!
