Used veggie oil as fuel workshop

Dominica is fortunate enough to be at the beginning of its automobile revolution, and as such there are very few cars on the island, and so it makes sense to look at alternative forms of fuel.

The workshop involves the modification of a diesel engine, either a vehicle or a generator, both can work, once they are diesel vehicles.

Participants are taught how to make the necessary modifications to the engine, and all about the different components required for the alterations.

The pipes are fitted, the heating system for the oil is made, and hopefully, by the end of the day, we will smell the veggie oil coming from the exhaust. Delicious!!

Hopefully in the very near future there will be plenty of vehicles driving around the island on used veggie oil, reducing harmful emisssiopns by some 93% !!

 

As well as reducing the pollution, we also help with the recycling of dirty oil. We collect our oil from a handful of restaurants after they have finished using it. Previously, many of them were dumping the oil in rivers and ravines.
