Hydro Electricity Workshop
Our hydro electricity workshop is probably the most complicated of our modules, and is therefore split into two parts.
The first day is spent learning about the principles of hydro power, and examining the various kinds of different systems available on the market. The second part of day one is spent learning how to measure the head and flow rates of a river, in order to determine the best type of turbine for any individual circumstance.
The first part of the second day involves learning to build a catchment for the water which will be used to power the turbine, and understanding the need for a settling tank to avoid blocking the system.
Part two of day two of the workshop involves the actual installation of a small turbine here at 3 Rivers, which we take apart and rebuild during the workshop
